I love Boone! I have property in Brevard, NC. This forum only allows for me to touch on this. As soon as he "accepts' he stutters he will want to change what it means to him. If has been teased and/or singled out, he likely has the "A & C" of the ABC's forming (affect and cognitions). B is behavior, stuttering. He is at a sensitive point- second grade- at which the identity of a stutterer can form. I bet he wants to learn to 'edit' painful experiences. I'd use art therapy and/or conversational reframing to remove any hurt. I would also teach pull-outs and traditional stuttering modification tools. If his reading is disfluent, teach phrasing. Read my articles "volcanoes and stuttering" and "kudzu and stuttering" at stuttering-specialist.com. Make sure his parents and teachers are on board.
