Glad we could legitimize at least one of your rantings! :) Aside from Larry Molt’s work reported at last year’s ASHA convention, I don’t know of anyone else who is currently looking at the issue of subtyping potential SpeechEasy responders and nonresponders. Considering the cost of nonrefunded fitting and audiological fees that one incurs even if the device is returned within the 60-day trial period (not to mention the investment of hope), any guidelines for who might and might not benefit would be very welcome. Stuart et al. (2008) made an attempt in this direction by examining if disfluency type could predict response to FAF and found that it did not. As for Chicago, I’ve never turned down a free beer in my life and ain’t about to start now. Look forward to seeing you there!
