Ryan, I don't think you systematically checked for side effects did you? I think your statement expressed mostly that you did not spontaneously observe such effects. It is possible that exposure to a shifted frequency spectrum over long periods of time causes the (hearing related) nervous system to adapt in unique ways not yet studied. Also, the volume levels used with the devices are not necessarily professionally monitored and so exposure to increased volume levels over time could possibly affect thresholds. I think the question of possible side effects to wearing SpeechEasy (or using any other similar device) is still pretty much an open book and worth studying.
