Dear Kelly- I would have made even faster recovery if some SLP had put me in touch with other older recovering stutterers..or if they had given me such stories to read (like the ones in this conference).. I think most Clinician feel that since the client has come to them, they must do something for the client..Referral is always thought of as a last resort and also as some kind of reflection on their own competence (not true) .. I too practiced medicine as a GP and I realise now that not many doctors had the humility to think of referral or other external resources at an early stage..
