Thanks. In my knowledge, there is no specific study in India but some SLP believe that dult PWS could be 3%. CWS probably will abe around 10% in 'under 14' age group. Where even the primary health care is not available to large sections of population, speech therapy is simply unheard of- except big cities. There is no professional regulatory body for SLPs. So, there fee structure may have no relevance to average client's paying capacity. There is no social security which could pay for their services. So, in effect, CWS and PWS in about 80% population are left to their own devices. Educated middle class is turning to web for self help and latest information. As far as children (who stutter) are concerned, they simply withdraw in a shell and come to be known as- 'Oh, he is very shy. That's all!'.
