My stuttering story was very simple,at the age of 8, when i heard my stuttering (in a treatment), i decided to stop stuttering in any cause. So the result was avoiding speech, and total silent blocks when i didn't had escape from stuttering. The feeling of being in the world without the possibility of talking more than one sentence with anybody was awful. When i learned speech tools i used them to speak in more situations ,but i continued hide my stuttering. There was sounds that i couldn't say ,and when i try to be brave and to stop avoiding i founded myself stuck in a store 10 minutes without succeed saying the frighten sound . Only when i hear Dr Greg Snyder in Stuttertalk i understood what Alan Badmington wrote,i was the creator of my fears. Any avoiding create more fear and more fear. So now when i feel fear of a sound i deliberately say the sound, because i don't know for sure what was the original sound i wanted to say ,cause i am so used to switch sounds and words. And the fear is decrease more and more . Thank you for your article. geashono@gmail.com ari
