That was fantastic. You really get to the heart of stuttering with that article, and I will share it with my students. I have a question about your definition. You state that it's the lack of integration of "the underlying processes of planning and producing language and speech" that is the problem. Are you worried at all that this definition makes stuttering sound like equal parts language AND speech disorder? To me, stuttering is a speech disorder that is impacted by language. People who stutter can have all the language planning time in the world, and still have significant moments of stuttering. But, you can't have communication without language, so of course language is a part of it... so, I guess my question is: Do you feel that stuttering is both a speech and a language disorder?
