The Journal of Fluency Disorders, first billed as a quarterly journal of the Research Foundation for Communication Disorders, Inc., began publication in the spring of 1974. The publications board consisted of Anthony A. Zenner, Chair, Stewart W. Kinde, K. Dale Gronhovd and Stuart I. Ritterman. The subscription rate was set at $9 per year for individuals, $7 per year for students, and $18 per year for institutions. The first issue included these articles:
