We were the 16th graduating class from Madison Lutheran, graduating in June 1958.
These were our teachers:
On Tuesday June 20, 1950, at 1:30 p.m. Miss Buchholz hosted a get-acquainted party for perspective first graders. The invitation read, "There will be games, lunch, and a movie. The purpose of the party is to acquaint the children with our school and with the teacher, Miss Esther Buchholz. The mothers and the younger brothers and sisters are cordially invited to accompany the guests of honor." Children attending from Our Saviour's included Ruth Oesleby, Barbara Prescott, and Judy Maginnis who became a part of the first grade class that entered in the fall of 1950.

Processional hymn - Savior, Who Thy flock art feeding
1. Savior, Who Thy flock art feeding
With the Shepherd's kindest care,
All the feeble gently leading
While the Lambs Thy bosom share.
2. Now, these little ones receiving,
Fold them in Thy gracious arms;
There, we know, Thy Word believing,
Only there, secure from harm.
3. Never from Thy pasture roving,
Let them be the lion's prey;
There, Thy tenderness so loving,
Keep them thro' life's dang'rous way.
4. Then within Thy fold eternal
Let them find a resting place,
Feed in pastures ever vernal,
Drink the rivers of Thy grace. Amen
Altar service - A.F. Ziehlsdorff, Immanuel Lutheran Church

Cong.: And my mouth shall show forth Thy praise.
Minister: Make haste, O God, to deliver me.
Cong.: Make haste to help me, O Lord.

Hymn -- Lutheran Hymnal 627
1. Gracious Savior, gentle Shepherd,
Children all are dear to Thee:
Gathered with Thine arms and carried
In Thy Bosom may they be;
Sweetly, fondly, safely, tended,
From all want and danger free.
2. Tender Shepherd, never leave them,
Never let them go astray;
By Thy warning love directed
May they walk the narrow way;
Thus direct them, thus defend them,
Lest they fall an easy prey.
3. Cleanse their hearts from sinful folly
In the stream Thy love supplied,
Mingled stream of blood and water
Flowing from Thy wounded side;
And to heav'nly pastures lead them,
Where Thine own still waters glide.
4. Let Thy holy Word instruct them;
Fill their minds with heavenly light;
Let Thy powerful grace constrain them
To approve whate'er is right;
Let them feel Thy yoke is easy,
Let them prove Thy burden light.
5. Taught to lisp Thy holy praises
Which on earth Thy children sing,
Both with lips and hearts, unfeigned,
Glad thank-offerings may they bring;
Then with all the saints in glory
Join to praise their Lord and King. Amen

Remember the thick olive green literature book we used in seventh grade? Many of us especially enjoyed The Cremation of Sam McGee by Robert Service (1874-1958).
Betty at the Baseball Game by Walter Ben Hare can still be found on the Internet Archive. Carol Ziehlsdorff performed this 9 minute humerous monolog, which is protected by U.S. copyright, so I can't reproduce it here, for our 8th grade banquet. The cost of the monologue at that time was only 40 cents. Times have changed! But I guess these were years we could also get a three-scoop ice cream cone for a dime and a bottle of pop or a candy bar for a nickel. [Note: buying power of $1.00 in the 50's was equivalent to about $10.50 in 2022. Multiply amounts by 10. Still a good deal for three scoops!]
A less "intelligent" performance was provided that night by Judy Maginnis who did a rendition of Little Bunny Foo Foo, with the threat of being turned into a "goon."
